The Constructors’ Championship is awarded to the Formula 1 team — known as a constructor — that scores the most points across an entire season. Points are earned by both of a team’s drivers at every race, and those totals are combined. Winning the Constructors’ Championship is hugely significant because it affects a team’s prize money, prestige, and resources for the following season. A constructor both designs and builds its own car, which is what separates works teams from customer teams.
Example: Mercedes have extended their lead in the Constructors’ Championship after both cars finished in the top five.
The Constructors’ Championship is a separate award to the Drivers’ Championship — it is possible for one team to win both, or for different teams to win each title.
